Travel Guide: A Week in Iceland
The number one location we get asked about is Iceland. You're probably wondering if it's worth all the hype it gets. Well, I'm here to tell you, it's not overrated! And we've created a simple guide to walk through a week-long stay in this beautiful country!
The natural landscape of Iceland speaks for itself. There's a reason it draws millions each year. The endless hills of green, stark black beaches, crystal blue water, and natural hot spring lagoons are other-worldly. Interstellar, Star Wars, Walter Mitty, and many more award-winning movies were filmed here – and it really does feel like another planet at times. So do yourself a favor, and book that ticket!
We've listed a few of those favorite places here on the blog, with links to Google Maps for you, but all of these sites and more, along with a full six-day itinerary, can be found in the free PDF guide below!

stay
We absolutely loved this bed + breakfast! Delicious complimentary breakfast, gracious host, chickens running around the yard, and a beautiful view.
hike
Bruarfoss
Can be very muddy and a little difficult to find the trailhead. We recommend reading instructions on the Google Reviews at the link above.
Gullfoss
(Pictured to the right) One of Iceland's most popular waterfalls, meaning there is very easy access and plenty of tourists. Still definitely worth seeing!
hike
Skogafoss
This was definitely our favorite site out of all of them! Be sure to take the time to walk up the stairs to the right of the large waterfall and take the path for a ways to see a number of successive falls.
Seljandsfoss + Gljúfrabúi
To get the best view of Gljúfrabúi, continue walking down the path from Seljandsfoss and enter the crevice between rocks, carefully forging the creek, to look up from the base of Gljúfrabúi. Very cold, but incredible experience!

Salthúsið
Located near the airport. Their lobster soup is delicious!
